Thiago is a Guest Ph.D. from the Biodiversity and Sustainability Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Nupem / UFRJ). His research area is related to Place Innovation. Place Innovation has its roots in social innovation, an area of knowledge that deals with the development of changes in places, aiming at a better experience for the stakeholders.

As a location, one can consider “a destination, place, municipality or region, that is, some type of geographically delimited area”. Place Innovation is a “new scientific and practical concept that allows investigating the co-innovative development of attractive places and generate sustainable changes that bring benefits to society.”

Through the tools and methods of Services Design, Participatory Ergonomics and Co-creation, Thiago is working on Product and Service Innovation in Places.

At the Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability (Nupem/UFRJ) Thiago is part of the team of Prof. Dr. Francisco de Assis Esteves (Advisor), and is co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Roberto Bartholo from the Engineering Research Institute (Coppe-UFRJ). At the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Thiago is in the Innovation Division, specifically in the Engineering Systems Design Group and has the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ole Broberg.

His research internship is supported by Capes - Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, a foundation linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
